Pride – Much Pain But Still Pride

Pride

Pride is a Rap / Hip Hop Artist From Philly, schooled in Chi-Town and now working in Florida – a recording artist whose mission is to create great music.

Biography

Born in South Philadelphia as Joseph W. Pembroke Jr.,  “Pride” was raised by a single mother who managed to raise funds to move outside of the city when he was 7 years old. Around 2nd grade Pride began writing poetry for girls he had crushes on, the start of his lyrical growth. In the early days of school he was picked on a lot both for his complexion and affinity for rap. Rap meant everything to the youngster growing up, as much as it does today.

I attribute my addiction to rap widely to my cousin Michael Tubens, who, from an early age showed me the legends of the Hip Hop game.  Tupac is and always will be my favourite artist. Period. He is but one of many people I look up to, and hustle for.  My first mixtape which I made with my cousin “Redemption” when I was 16 was the first vocal recording I had done. It was released under our group name “Lost Onez”.

The next mixtape for Pride would be “Internal Bleeding” which he produced himself in his basement and released when he was 18. After graduating high school, he moved to Chicago to attend Columbia College.  “Much Pain But Still Pride” is Pride’s most recent work which was released in Fall of 2011.  This latest mixtape is a very well thought out statement about many things a person encounters in life.

Pride’s next projects are going to be 100% original music, and the grind to be recognised as one of the best out there is still in motion.
