Piano playing cat helps students learn instrument

A piano playing cat helps students feel more at ease with learning to play music.

The cat, Jasper, lives with his owner Laura Elliot just outside Glasgow and has been helping students relax as they get to grips with the instrument.

The two-year-old cat waits for students to begin playing. then jumps onto the keys to play his own version.

Watch Jasper in action below.

Laura, 29, told Press Association: “I used to feed him when he did this, so now he thinks if he acts up he’ll get fed.

“He just doesn’t care. He’ll lie across the keys when we are playing.

“He goes outside and he could be miles away but he will hear the piano start playing and he knows that that’s his cue.”

In one instance, Laura tried putting Jasper outside after he became too disruptive, however, the cat meowed so loud a passer-by picked him up and buzzed hum back into Laura’s building.

Laura runs Laura Elliot’s Piano School and says: “Students think it’s great. He makes them feel more at ease and relaxed when they are learning.”
