Kevin Jenkins tells the story through the blues, soul and grass root rock

He shared the stage with super heavyweights including The Police, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, BB King  and the Late Joe  Cocker  and after 38 years in the music business, seasoned bassist Kevin Jenkins took the only natural progression to go solo.  The veteran musician took the gamble and released his debut album, “Step Inside” back in  2013, displaying pure soothing 1980s style soul, coupled with lyrics reflecting on prominent moments in his life.

The True Groove recruit went on to contribute to Tomas Doncker’s True Groove All Star Fully Re-Covered Album this March, giving a soulful rock treatment to a string of classics, including “Spirits In The Sky”. Within three months of the album’s release, his interpretation of Norman Greenbaun’s  hit reappeared and takes the intro spot, setting a rather racy tone in his latest high energy, Americana-soul album “Til The Story’s Told”.

Jenkins takes a slight detour in the nine-track production, creating a warm glow of folk and soul with lead single “Janie’s Silver Lining” and “Why” before the delights of the full-on racy guitar riffs makes a reappearance with “Til The Story’s Told”. The high-energy vibe doesn’t last for long, returning to the rich hybrid sound of  soulful Americana with “Country Line”. Final effort “Crazy Weather” feature bursts of seamlessly smooth psychedelic rock (if that makes sense!) intertwined with the blues and a hint of good old fashioned soul.

Overall,” Til The Story’s Told” is a true testament to Jenkins’ never-ending ability as a musician…and it also shows that his decision to go solo definitely paid off.
