Nathan Carpenter has defeated the odds with the release of ’10:2 Midnight’

Since the age of three, Nathan Carpenter has suffered with selective mutism, an anxiety disorder which inhibits a person’s speech in specific situations. Constantly fighting against, Carpenter is now proving the impossible.

Bullied from a young age, Nathan found solace in singing and recording at home with his sister. This was soon recognised by his school and before too long was put forward to join the theatre company ‘Stagestruck’.

“I don’t know what it is, but I’m a different person when I perform”, Nathan explains. “I’m so shy [with my selective mutism], and I struggle in day-to-day life. It’s frustrating, it feels like you want to say something, but you can’t. Music has helped a lot. I’m happy because it feels like where I belong when I am singing. It’s an exciting feeling, like you are doing something you love.’

For the mute singer, it seems as though belting out hits to thousands of people is a much more welcoming prospect than speaking to a room full of people. Now, having been a finalist in Open Mic UK in 2014, Nathan continues to go from strength to strength.

We are thrilled to share the music video for the track ‘On This Lonely Road Again’ alongside his debut 10:2 Midnight. The album was recorded at River Studios by producer Tom Jobling and showcases songs of despair and hope. The eight tracks are a journey through Nathan’s experiences, it proves once again that you can achieve anything, and his story is nothing but inspirational.

The album itself it available on Amazon.
