Famous for instore performances from the likes of Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, the names just slip off the tongue, Deal Real Records was one of thee places to go to get yours records and watch their legendary Friday night open mics until its closure in 2007!
BUT FEAR NOT!!!
For two months only, Deal Real is back and putting on a whole host of events that can be checked out here and will feature performances from Ghetts, Paigey Cakey and Devlin to lively debates ranging from We Need Some More Girls In Here and Too Hood For TV? It is going to be a busy period but will be productive and immensely emotional for what many artists clearly embraced ten years ago.
Last night was the preview show which featured live performances from, The Age of L.U.N.A, Mic Righteous and Akala hosted by DJ Ace and DJ Snips.
To kick the evening off, there was a video that gave a brief history of Deal Real records which was memorable and gave you an insight into what the vibe was like in the not so distant past and how artists came to respect Deal Real for what they were doing for the music scene.
Then the DJs took over and played some of the finest old school records while the crowd took in the photographs that were on display reminiscing of previous events that had taken place in this very same room!
The Age Of L.U.N.A then stepped up to perform a few records and for their first ever live performance no nerves were evident but the chemistry between them certainly was! Bouncing off each other (not literally) the set flowed and we were briefly introduced to a sax solo from Daniella which the crowd evidently liked due to the appreciation levels rising!
They have got a nice combination of rapping and soulful singing between them and the crowd was won over by the end of their set which ended with a mashup of classic records that the crowd were singing along to!
DJ Snips then took over on the 1s and 2s to play another sumptuous selection of beats whilst Akala and Mic Righteous got ready to hit the crowd with some new freshness! With everything in place the expectancy was reaching fever pitch!!!
Having announced on twitter that they would be performing their new song The Journey for the first time the anticipation was evident through the crowds excitement but before it reached a climax, Akala got on the mic and performed one record before and showed his immense talent that he possesses.
But the best was yet to come with both artists well known for fierce rapping styles blew the crowd away with their new track and having started with such a slow build up there was only going to be a big grandstand finale which they duly delivered with a just a sample of what they can bring to a record which is something utterly magic!
To finish off the evenings entertainment there was a brief open mic that was competitive and well received by the crowd who stayed behind to watch!
