Run DMC sue Amazon

Run DMC are suing several large retailers for selling unauthorised products featuring their branding.

Among the stores, the legendary hip-hop brand has taken exception to are Amazon and Walmart, for selling trademark-infringing items including t-shirts, hats and glasses, allegedly attempting to “confuse the public” in the process.

According to an official complaint filed by the group’s Darryl ‘DMC’ McDaniels, the companies are “advertising, selling, manufacturing, promoting and distributing multiple products claiming to be Run-D.M.C.-styled products.”

In addition to Amazon and Walmart, D.M.C. have named Jet, Vision World Inc., Infinity Fashion Inc., SW Global Corp. and 20 anonymous companies that partner with the three super-retailers to sell the infringing items.

The group disbanded as a musical entity in 2002 after the murder of founding member Jam Master Jay.
