Belgian American producer YUS returns with ‘A Way Out’

YUS is the project of Belgian American dream pop artist, composer, and producer Youceff Kabal, who has just released an exquisite new single titled ‘A Way Out’.

The track has been ten years in the making for Los Angeles based musician YUS, having first been written in the Spring of 2012, and released briefly in 2016 under a different moniker, before being revised over the past three years.

‘A Way Out’ is driven by YUS’ ethereal vocal delivery, piercing synth-heavy keyboard arrangements, and emotive songwriting abilities, and the song sees YUS exploring his desire to save a relationship from its potential end – despite their challenges, he doesn’t want to let the other person out of his life.

The enthralling dream pop offering also seeks to dismantle a fairly universal but not often helpful theme of always seeking outside counsel for relationship advise when things go wrong, instead of trying to look within ourselves to find the answers.

Speaking about his inspiration for ‘A Way Out’, YUS says, “it is a song I originally created in April 2012, as an ode to my girlfriend at the time. We’d been in a romantic relationship for about 5 months, and though I believe we were both happy with each other, some question marks were beginning to arise.

I wanted to tell her that I was open to pursuing the relationship however she wanted, be it romantically, or as friends. I just wanted her around. I was also struggling with being myself around her, which I believe is what she truly wanted, as opposed to being someone I was not in order to keep the relationship going. She wanted me, so why couldn’t I just be that?

I think I was fairly impressionable in my late teens and early 20s, and came across a lot of relationship advice as a result of living on the internet, I was trying to let go of all of the stuff I’d read, and try to look within instead. I still struggle with some of these things today”.
