Ultra_eko, the London-based rapper and artist, releases the first track, ‘Six Numbers’ from his forthcoming EP, ‘Kitchen Sink Dramas’.
It is a beautifully complex, poetic and deeply human track which showcases a refreshing side to contemporary hip hop.
Ultra_eko has already made himself known as a lyrical storyteller, with an intimate and vulnerable writing style which immediately draws the listener into his world. There is something decidedly original and unique about Ultra_eko, his voice instantly recognisable and full of character, and his lyrics show intelligence and emotional awareness.
The track, set against a hypnotic and wave-like piano led chord formation, tells the story of a narrator struggling against financial hardship, the loss of his dreams and his attempts to find hope and meaning in his life. It looks at what it means to be good, how we might attempt to help each other, and it is both profound and authentic in the message it sends.
“This is a song I wrote that really comes from the heart, and some of the struggles that I, and those around me, have faced in recent times.”
