Exclusive Premiere: Singer Songwriter Matt Hurd Delivers a Dreamy EP ‘Was a Dream’

New York Native Matt Hurd delivers his EP ‘Was a Dream” today on all digital and streaming sites.  With no surprise the five songs epitomize what we have come to expect from this singer songwriter.  With two tracks previously released as singles including covers of  “If It Makes You Happy” and “Criminal”, Hurd very publicly honors some of his musical heroes Sheryl Crow & Fiona Apple.

The lead off single of the EP is “Was a Dream ” spilled out into lyrics and melody faster than a speeding car. His inspiration highlighted by the guitar progression from the verse came first and led Matt into a dreamy delight of a song. Hurd said, The line “go back to bed and rest your head, you know the stars are still shining” came to me as I kept playing the progression. I wasn’t sure where to go with it until I just ran with the dream idea based upon looking back on some special time you spent with someone. It’s a love story hidden in a dream with a xylophone.”

Always a stand out in the genre of contemporary music, Matt draws his listeners in with his addicting raspy vocals and his magical storytelling. With the addition to the ep of two acoustic songs reimagined from previous releases, If These Walls and ‘Only Lonely he invites his audience into a real life experience of his solo live performances.

Overall we give Matt’s EP an A++++ as he enlightens and entertains us with his authentic inspired music that appeals to fans of 90’s rock, the 2000’s celebrated songwriters Jason Mraz and John Mayer and he sprinkles a bit of country influence reminiscent of 2023 Breakout country star Zach Bryan.

With his voice raspy and powerful as the narratives he weaves, singer-songwriter Matt Hurd stands out in the crowded realm of contemporary music. Influenced by the raw emotion of 90s bands like The Gin Blossoms, Matchbox20, Sheryl Crow, and Oasis, Matt infuses his sound with a nostalgic resonance while seamlessly blending in modern-day influences from the likes of Jason Mraz, John Mayer, and Zach Bryan.

As Matt continues to carve his path in the music industry, one thing remains certain: his sound is as unique and memorable, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who listen. With each chord strummed and each word sung, Matt Hurd invites listeners on a journey of self-discovery and reflection.

Was a Dream” leaves us wanting more.
