Album Review: Insubordia PT II – The Lost Poets

Decked out in ‘oldboy’ city suits and faces disguised with classic top hats and what appear to be black opaque tights, The Lost Poets wowed the critics – not with their striking appearance – but with the 2014 debut EP “Insubordia”.

Now two years later and the Swedish rock/bluesy duo released the second part of the highly-anticipated album, in which the first part of the production displays arrangements that are intensely dark yet melodic through offerings,” Danny Electro” and “Bound”.

The ten-track album gets heated up with the spine-chilling and soul destroying effort, “Mouth” before returning to the near-melodic/hell raising pieces where the guitar plucks creates a rich folk/Americana and perhaps a 70(ish) bluesy vibe through “100 MPH” and concluding track “Monomyth”.

As the first half of “Insubordia PT II” contains avant-garde influences, it might not be everyone’s cup of tea…however, don’t turn your back on the album, as it features soft rock-infused numbers that’s surprisingly outstanding and breathtaking.

“Insubordia PT II” is now available via Bandcamp.
