Cardi B is applying to trademark her catchphrase, “Okurrr”

Cardi B has applied to trademark her catchphrase, “Okurrr”.

The sound, which the rapper has described as sounding like a “cold pigeon in New York City”, crops up frequently throughout her Grammy-winning debut album, Invasion of Privacy.

The application, which would cover merchandise like t-shirts and hoodies, was made by Cardi’s company, Washpoppin.

A subsequent application was also made for “paper goods, namely cups and posters”.

The trademark submission that “Okurrr” should be correctly spelt with three Rs, although her team also made sure an alternative spelling, with just two R’s, was submitted to help curb knock-off merchandise sellers.
