Chance The Rapper has credited the late Michael Jackson as his biggest philanthropic inspiration.
The Chicagoan artist, who given back to his hometown with million dollar donations, said that the late Jackson’s blend of musical career and philanthropy influenced his own charitable endeavors.
Speaking to Forbes magazine, Chance said: “The greatest of all time, highest I think maybe for overall celebrities, but most philanthropic musician is Michael Joseph Jackson,”
“The only person I can really think of off the top when I think of charity that’s a musician is Michael Jackson.”
Earlier this year, Chance announced that he’d be releasing his second full-length album this year.
The rapper teased at new material with a solitary tweet (“July”), alongside an Instagram video where he reiterated the date (“jooly“) and said he’s “been making music” – all solidified by a less subtle confirmation by Chance’s manager, Pat.
The forthcoming LP follows on from Chance’s 2016’s release Coloring Book.
