Country singer Justin Carter has died after accidentally shooting himself while filming a music video

Rising country star Justin Carter has passed away aged 35 after he accidentally shot himself while filming the music video in his Houston apartment.

Carter’s death was confirmed on March 17th, days after the singer had signed a management deal and released a new single.

The statement, posted to the late singer’s official Facebook page said: “Justin always wanted to reach the top, it’s unfortunate it has to be this way, but Justin’s name is worldwide now.”

The late musician’s manager, Triple Threat’s Mark Atherton, said that Carter had signed a new management deal with the company just days before his death. following his latest single ‘Love Affair’, which dropped only last week.

Remembering Carter, Atherton said: “Justin had a potential to, you know, in our eyes, and a lot of people’s eyes, to be the next Garth Brooks, he was always just so full of energy, just so fun … He always had that personality kind of like the class clown, but when it was time to get down to business, he got down to it.”

In an interview with Fox News, Carter’s mother Cindy McClellan explained that while filming, a gun in her son’s pocket “went off and caught [him] in the corner of his eye.”

McClellan went on: “He was a wonderful artist, he was the voice, he was the total package and we’re trying to keep his legend [alive].”

In the wake of his death, an appeal has been launched to help pay for Justin Carter’s funeral costs.
