Ed Sheeran wanted to make an all-male version of ‘Lady Marmalade’

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he wanted to make an all-male version of ‘Lady Marmalade’, featuring the likes of Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber.

In an interview with Charlamagne Tha God discussing his latest offering, No. 6 Collaborations Project, Sheeran revealed that the album was inspired by his desire to saying to re-record ‘Lady Marmalade’ with other male musicians: “This project actually started with one idea I had which was – you remember ‘Lady Marmalade’ right?” he explained.

“This is such a silly idea. I had an idea of doing that, like you could get Bruno [Mars], [Justin] Bieber and me on a record. How fun would that be?”

While the track never came to be, Sheeran has released a collaboration with Bieber for the new release on single, ‘I Don’t Care’.

Chance The Rapper and PNB Rock also nab a spot on No. 6 Collaborations Project, with their track ‘Cross Me’ being released last week (24th May).

No. 6 Collaborations Project will be released 12th July, 2019, although it’s not clear who else will appear on the remaining 13 tracks of the album.
