Born in Stamford, CT, to a music loving Haitian family and raised in the church, there was a wide array of musical influences on Tertulien’s chameleonic abilities. Singing in the choir at age 5 and mesmerized by the vibrations that he felt through the music, he was inspired to be great.
Tertulien has always owned his own destiny. At age 15, musical theater was the venue he discovered the real potential of his voice and his love for performing. Getting a taste for acting and singing on stage lit a fire in him (especially growing up so close to New York). Outside of school too, he couldn’t help but to explore and share his creativity. With arrangements and songs constantly floating in his head, and a sense of responsibility, at 18 Tertulien founded and directed the first youth choir at his church.
After studying fashion in college and working briefly in the industry, Tertulien knew it wasn’t for him, but that entertainment was his calling. He craved more knowledge. Supporting himself while making time to attend the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts as an actor, as well as The Julliard School for voice, Tertulien began his journey.
Getting flown across the country for a photo shoot redirected Tertulien’s future; it affirmed the feeling in the back of his mind that the west coast was the place he should be. “I fell in LOVE with California— the weather, the freedom my soul felt here was like no other…I felt home.” Luckily a former boss helped him find work, and Tertulien packed his bags to move out west.
Tertulien is ready for the spotlight, on his terms. The music business is not always nice, but Tertulien is just that… Exploring spirituality and positivity in his songs amongst a community of musicians and producers, being friendly and open has led Tertulien down a very interesting path, and things started to fall into place.
Becoming a member of the Agape International Choir has rooted Tertulien deeper in that California love, and continued to influence his music. He’s working on his first album, co-writing and honing is performance to perfection in the recording studio.
Tertulien knows that his first single “Higher” will help take him there, and the depth and passion of his voice will take you. This is just the beginning of the journey for Tertulien, expressing himself in a genre he calls Epic Soul.
