Felix Cartal and Lights release music video for ‘Love Me’

On Valentine’s Day this year, Canadian DJ and producer Felix Cartal and Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Lights teamed up to release ‘Love Me’.

‘Love Me’ explores the topic of unrequited love and the frustrations of not having the object of your affection return your feelings.

On the writing process for the track, Lights said: “[Writing ‘Love Me’] is probably close to the fastest I’ve ever come up with something I’m proud of. The chorus and rest of the track evolved since then, but in music, you really crave the moments when things come easily, and this was one of them.”

Now, after dominating the Canadian pop charts and accumulating over nine million streams worldwide, the duo have unveiled the video for ‘Love Me’. Watch it below.

Calling on fellow Canadian and GRAMMY award-winning director Aaron A. to bring the lyrics to life, the video is vibrant in colour with a lo-fi aesthetic and chronicles six individuals each vying for the attention of their crushes, all while Lights sings on against a shimmering-gold, streamer backdrop.
