Nigerian pop mainstay Kizz Daniel has released ‘Uncle K: Lemon Chase‘, a surprise seven-track EP that sets the stage for his anticipated full-length project ‘Uncle K‘. Known for his hit-making consistency and sonic versatility, Kizz Daniel uses this new EP to explore more personal and reflective terrain, building a bridge between life’s sweetness and its more difficult edges.
Thematically framed around transformation and emotional depth, Lemon Chase offers a glimpse into the artist’s continued evolution as both a storyteller and a performer. Tracks like ‘Black Girl Magic’ spotlight body positivity and tribute, while ‘Eyo’ captures celebratory Lagos energy.
Elsewhere, collaborations help drive the project’s tone: “Titi” with rising act Fola leans into themes of loyalty, while ‘Peace I Chose’ sees Kizz Daniel recording lyrics written by another artist for the first time – a shift he describes as opening space for new vulnerability.
Odumodublvck and Bella Shmurda join him on ‘Al Jannah’ to reflect on grief and remembrance, while Zlatan appears on ‘Secure,’ a track examining financial authenticity. The EP’s closer, ‘Police,’ merges the vocal presence of Angelique Kidjo and Johnny Drille into a playful, romantic finale.
Production is handled by a trusted cohort of afrobeats collaborators including RewardBeatz, Blaisebeatz, Magicsticks, AyZed, and MOG Beatz. The result is a textured but accessible sonic backdrop that supports the EP’s personal themes. In his own words, Kizz Daniel explains, “I wanted this to feel like real life – sweet, sour, confusing, beautiful. This is music for your heart, for when you’re healing, hoping, or remembering.”
‘Uncle K: Lemon Chase‘ arrives after a landmark 2024 for the artist, who marked his tenth year in the industry with a string of international chart successes, sold-out arena dates, and high-profile collaborations. As anticipation builds for Uncle K, this latest EP functions not just as a teaser, but as a meaningful statement of creative intent.
