Introducing Dan Domino

Dan Domino

Born in Hungary and making huge waves in the European scene, Dan Domino is on a rapid rise to the top of the EDM ladder. A DJ and producer by trade, Dan’s records have been gaining attention from some of the world’s leading DJs and records labels, including: Deorro’s Panda Funk Records, releasing his latest single ‘Find My Home’, a collaboration with Dan-X.

Dan’s quick ascent began with the release of his previous collaboration with Dan-X ‘Flame (Only One)’, released on Pixel Empire Records. The record was picked up by heavyweight Tiesto and premiered on his Club Life radio show. W&W and Juicy M were also quick to show their support and since then Dan has gained support from artists such as: Quintino, Sander van Doorn, Bingo Players, Sick Individuals, Firebeatz, Lucky Date, Thomas Gold, Swanky Tunes and radio play on stations such asCapital FM (UK), Slam FM (NL) and SiriusXM(US).

We caught up Dan to talk about all things music.

Hi Dan, how are you and what’s going on in your world at the moment?

I’m fine thanks. 2016 is going to be pretty exciting for me. Currently I am preparing a lot of new releases for my upcoming sets and for some huge labels. My latest single “Find My Home” has just been released on Deorro’s Panda Funk label and has already gained supported by the likes of Tiesto, Sander van Doorn and Quintino to name a few. I’m absolutely delighted by the reaction so far!

Where in the world are you currently based?

Budapest, Hungary.

How would you describe your sound?

My sound is pretty experimental now. I don’t like to limit myself and solely produce one genre so I try to combine different genres and feelings. Currently my music contains a lot of emotional and uplifting breakdowns with cool, and peak-time friendly drops. My style is a crossover between the Progressive House, Electro and the viral Future and Bass House 🙂

Has your style gone through any changes along the years?

Everything is continuously changing, including my style. However there are some key elements and signature sounds which are still remain the same.

Who were your influences growing up?

In terms of dance music, I started listening to Ferry Corsten and Armin van Buuren back in 1999. From pop music, I was a huge fan of Michael Jackson and Jamiroquai.

How did you get involved in the Dance music business?

I got my first gig when I was 12-13 years old. I started as a DJ but later realised that if I wanted to play in more clubs I would have to start producing music, so few years later I started a project with a good friend of mine and we started producing together. I have had many projects in the past 10 years and I worked as a ghost producer as well for a long time.

Do you consider yourself more of a DJ or producer?

Deep inside I’m more of a DJ than a producer, but today these two things have really merged nowadays, you really need to be doing both. There are days when producing gives me the inspiration that I need and there are some days when I need to perform as a DJto get inspired.

Where would you like to see yourself in the months ahead?

Regularly releasing music on the world’s biggest labels and gaining support from the world’s best DJ’s.

Which is your ultimate career dream?

I would rather call them goals. I have a lot of notes on my fridge filled with my goals. I think travelling around the world and experiencing new and different cultures is the most interesting and exciting thing ever. I would like my music to have a positive affect around the world and I also want to inspire and help other people achieve their dreams.

Do you have any projects lined in 2016?

Yeah, I have a lot of collaborations and singles on the way. I also have a monthly radio show that I want to spread all around the world as well as my own YouTube channel where I share production tips and tutorials for upcoming producers.

Who’s inspired you the most in 2015?

I think Calvin Harris is a genius. He writes, sings and produces his songs and he found the perfect balance between commercial and club music.

If you could choose anyone in the world, who would you like to collaborate with?

Definitely Calvin Harris and Armin van Buuren (however Armin is far from my taste now). But I would love to work with Ellie Goulding, The Weeknd, Don Diablo, Dannic or Axwell & Ingrosso.

Tell us something not many people know about Dan Domino?

Dan Domino is a huge cinema fan, I usually go to cinema 2 or 3 times a week.

Anything to add/shout outs?

I want to make a shout out to my family and close friends that have always supported and believed in me from the beginning.
