INTRODUCING JAMIE WILD

Hey Jamie, thanks for talking to us. How are you today and what’s going on in your world?

Well, aside from trying to juggle being a single mother, Starmode has been keeping me busy with music projects!

Tell us a bit about your background and where you’re from?

Half of my family are Australian/English, my origin is Nigerian. Grew up in a little town called Andover, Hampshire.

When and how did you get started in the music business?

Well, as cliche as it sounds I don’t remember not singing. But it’s only been the past few years I’ve really started taking being an artist seriously.

For those who are not familiar with your music, how would you describe your current style?

Well, the music I have been releasing at the moment is mostly collaborations with house artists, but when I start on my own music projects it will be more R&B/Hip Hop vibes.

Who were your influences growing up?

When I was younger I didn’t have many musical influences around me. My mum was a Madonna fan, my nan loved Elton John. Don’t get me wrong, they are massive artists but it wasn’t until I got older, and started to understand and study music, that I discovered Motown and artists such as Etta James. That was when I started to truly get influenced.

Do you consider yourself more of a vocalist or a songwriter?

More of a vocalist. Only started taking writing seriously the past few years.

Describe your typical process for writing a new song.

Need to have what I’m writing to first. Then think of the concept. Then the melody. Then fill the words in after. But it can vary.

How do you get inspired for writing a new song?

Emotions inspire me to write.

Do you have any projects lined up this year?

Oh yes.

So, what do you do in your spare time when there’s no music involved?

Spare time? What’s spare time? I am a mother 24/7.

Which is your most memorable career highlight so far?

Seeing my first single on Spotify.

Where would you like to see yourself in the coming months?

Releasing a new single… More live performances!

If you had to choose any artist, dead or alive, who would you like to collaborate with?

Jhene Aiko.

Your top 3 tracks in 2016 so far?

That’s too difficult. I will give you 3 tracks I can’t stop playing but don’t know if I could pick 3 favorites. Thinking of You – Mabel 50/50 – Ray BLK and of course, Can’t Wait – Eric Alamango & Jamie Wild!

Tell us something not many people know about Jamie Wild.

Reality TV is one of my biggest guilty pleasures. And I love spicy food. I challenge anyone to eat food as spicy as I do.

Anything to add/shout outs?

Just a big thank you to everyone that supports me!!! My whole family, especially my amazing mother & nan, all of my friends but especially, Jasmine and her boyfriend Glyn, Lilly and her mum Brenda, my crazy Alicia, and the beautiful Sabina. Couldn’t ask for a better support network. I love you all.

Thanks a lot Jamie!
