We’ve had the pleasure to sit down with Sam Allan for a chat about his career so far and unveil some of his plans for the future.

Hi Sam, how are you and what’s going on in your world at the moment?

A lot is going on at the moment, I recently just released my first track ‘Vesper’. It did very well on Beatport making it up to #21 on the Progressive House charts!

Where are you currently based?

New York City

How would you describe your sound?

I love to play a blended mix of all genres such as House, Tech House, Progressive and Trance.

Has your style gone through any changes along the years?

Yes, I started off to be a straight Trance DJ. I love Trance so much but there are other genres that can still give you that feeling so that’s why I have a blended mix of music.

Who were your influences growing up?

Paul Van Dyk, Sasha, Digweed and TWILO!!

How did you get involved in the Dance music business?

It started in early 2010, my friend Matthew Schultz opened the doors to kick start my DJ career. I gave him a CD of a mix I made, Matt played it at a house party one night and he said everyone went crazy so he decided to book me at Via De Mille which was one of the greatest day parties going on in NYC back then and he was involved in. It all began from there and I started networking and meeting people that got me to where I am today. Thanks Matt!

Do you consider yourself more of a DJ or producer?

I spent a lot of my time DJing over the years but I recently realize that I am more of a Producer. I enjoy playing my music out knowing some are mine now in my sets. This makes me feel more like I’m providing a show of Sam Allan rather than just DJing.

Where would you like to see yourself in the months ahead?

In the coming months I have more tracks set to be released following ‘Vesper’. I have a track coming out on The Groove Society called ‘The Outer Limits’, I’ve been working on this track for almost 2 years to get the right sound. I’m very excited for this track to come out and I really think people are going to enjoy this!

Which is your ultimate career dream?

To be consistent, stay relevant and make quality music to stay original.

You’ve recently released your hit single ‘Vesper’. Do you have any projects lined up in the coming months?

Yes as I mentioned before I have ‘The Outer Limits’ set to come out end of January/early Feb. I have another track to follow up in the spring that I feel is the right time to release that one and I’m in the studio now working on a real banger for the summer! Also I have some remixes that I’m working on for the future.

Who’s inspiring you in 2015?

Eric Prydz really amazes me for how he keeps releasing amazing inspirational tracks. ‘Opus’ and ‘Generate’ were massive tracks.

If you could choose, who would you like to collaborate with?

Eric Prydz and Paul Van Dyk

Tell us something not many people know about Sam Allan?

Sam Allan is a very laid back funny person, who doesn’t take life too seriously. I’m an on the go person, never like to stay in too much. On my nights off I will always try to catch a music event – I love Jazz music!

Anything to add/shout outs?

Peace to the Middle East!

Thanks Sam!
