Kendra Erika – Miami Love

In 1964, Bond Girl, Jill Masterson became a household name after her noteworthy appearances in the Blockbuster hit, Goldfinger. The image of her golden body became an iconic image in the late sixties after she graced the cover of Life Magazine. Today, her strong will and cool under pressure attitude combined with her beauty and brains could be viewed as part of a new feminist mystique.

Singer/ songwriter, Kendra Erika grew up captivated with Bond Girls, the movies and pop music. South Florida born Kendra was obsessed with the classic American lifestyle and glamour of the 70’s and 80’s. She was fascinated with the Golden Age of film and always dreamed of being a Bond girl.

Kendra’s debut video, “Hustler” identifies with the fast paced lifestyle of the Bond films. Her Bond-like look matches her sultry vocal style and catchy lyrics that stick with you long into the night. The video was recorded in New York City and features an incredible team of writers and producers including: Lynn Verlayne (Parson James, Mark Plati), Jimmy Greco (Celine Dion, Paramore, Beyonce) and virtuoso cellist Dave Eggar (Coldplay, Phillip Phillips).

Her new video, “Miami Love” is set for release on March 25, 2016 and strikes the perfect blend of cinematic glamour that mingles beautifully amongst lusty vintage pop chords. The video combines elements of classic movie soundtracks from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, lush strings and bold horns, with modern beats and lyrics. Kendra brings together elegant dramatic cinematic synth within Hip-hop rhythms; catapulting you back in time while propelling you into the future.

Classic hit films, Casino and American Hustle were real life inspirations for Kendra’s breathy bold videos that draw the viewer in by creating cinematic landscapes that help advance the music toward pop-centric pageantry. Kendra adds, “I modeled the characters after actors I admired like Amy Adams and Michelle Pfeiffer.”

The theme throughout both videos relay messages written within the music, the beat; to reach out to young women whom might otherwise be afraid to be themselves. You can be a confident woman who exudes sexuality without sacrificing your integrity and morality. Kendra says, “I experienced a lot of heartbreak growing up. The men I used to go after proved to me that I had it all wrong; they should have been chasing me.”

Twenty-first century views on sex and the traditions of dating have changed dramatically. The roles that we may have thought exploited women in the James Bond movies can now be looked at with new eyes. The Bond women were in control and got what they wanted. Kendra’s personified perception is proof that the alluring roles women portray in the movies can now escape off screen and be played at home and in everyday life.
