I’m an emcee from Rockingham, Western Australia that has been working hard in creating a double album entitled ‘Day of the Guiding Light / Followed by the Shadow’, which i’m looking to release in the next few months
You have Keith Murray featured on your new video, how did that come about?
I have been a Keith Murray fan and supporter from a young age, so it was a no brainer to reach out to him via email and see if he would do a collabo for the album. We created the track ‘Spit that Shit’, which is produced by Loftwah the Beat Smiff, and about a year later I flew to New York for 4 days to shoot 3 music videos. ‘Spit that Shit’ was one of them. Was a dope experience
What is the Australian hip hop scene like?
The Australian hip hop scene is going off. There are lots of different types of people getting into it so you have a range of varity and styles from older hip hop heads to the new ones coming up. It definitely brings people together to share their love and passion for the art.
What can we expect from your new album?
You can most definitely expect a 90’s and early 2000’s influence threw out the album. I wanted to create an album that resembled the hip hop I grew up being inspired by. It’s a double album consisting of a Light side and a Dark side (16 tracks on each disk). And features some of my idols including Onyx, Krazy Drayz ( Das EFX ), Keith Murray, Chip fu, Mr Cheeks, Rockness Monsta ( Heltah Skeltah ), Jeru the Damaja, Afu ra, Big Shug, Doitall ( Lords of the Underground), Ruste Juxx, Sickflo, Boblakk, Prodigal Sunn & Killah Priest.
You have worked with some big names! What Emcee would you most like to work with on a collaboration album and why ?
There are so many artists I would love to work with… Red man, Method man, Chuck D, KRS One, Rakim, Inspectah Deck… shit the list could go on and on haha… I honestly don’t think I could pick just one.
What producers can we expect you to be working with in the future?
No doubt I will be working with my man Loftwah the Beat Smiff, Rob Shaker, Wisdom2th, Endemic Emerald and UG from Cella Dwellas.
Who would you say has done the most for the Aussie hip hop scene and why?
Well I guess Bliss n Eso and Hilltop Hoods are the 2 biggest names Down Under at the moment so I would have to say one of them. They have pushed the Australian scene to a larger audience and helped it to grow, so nothing but respect to them.
