While there’s no date set for its release, Rihanna has given some tantalisingly tiny updates about her forthcoming, highly anticipated ninth album.
The follow-up to 2016’s ANTI is predicted to drop at some point this year.
The 31-year-old singer revealed a few details about the release to The New York Times, confirming that she is making a reggae album and that there is no official title yet: “So far it’s just been R9, thanks to the Navy,” Rihanna explained, “I’m about to call it that probably, ’cause they have haunted me with this, ‘R9, R9, when is R9 coming out?’ How will I accept another name after that’s been burned into my skull?”
Rihanna also hinted at a potential collaboration with Lady Gaga (“It’s not in the books right now, but I’m not against it”) and dispelled rumors that a song with Drake might feature (“Not anytime soon, I don’t see it happening. Not on this album, that’s for sure.”)
