Rough Copy share a teaser of their new single ‘UK’

This won’t be the first time you’ll have heard of Croydon boys Rough Copy. Having reached the semi-finals of the X Factor in 2013, the three-piece band, made up of Kazeem “Kaz” Ajobo, Sterling Ramsey and Joseph “Joey” James Thomas, will have popped up on your screens more than a few times by now.

That said, their journey into the industry hasn’t been an easy one. The band had originally auditioned for the show a year prior but were forced to drop out when Nigerian-born Ajobe was unable to obtain a visa in time to take part in the judges houses leg of the show. Of course, having already struck a chord globally, this left a lot of very disappointed fans.

Despite having already put out two hugely successful singles (‘Street Love’ and ‘Same Formula’), for Rough Copy their latest track ‘UK’ marks a new beginning. With plans to stretch their sound as far as they can, the boys are forever finding new ways to push the boundaries and instill originality. Still managed by Dysfunktiononal Music and now signed to the Independent label DeeVu Records, the band have found a place they can call home; a place where, for the first time they feel they are able to create the music that means so much to them.

Their voices, determination and talent have consistently blown audiences away but now more than ever it’s obvious that Rough Copy really is built around the kinetic energy and creativity that exists between a group of friends. The result is a unique and exciting blend of culture, personality and style.

Brimming with classic R&B and disco influence with a video that follows their journey so far, ‘UK’ sees Rough Copy sounding tighter and more clean cut than ever before. They’ve already got a hugely enthusiastic following, but this is set to see them snowballing into something explosive.
