Runaway Scotty – Change Change Change

It’s not often you find a singer-songwriter who addresses the harshness of reality with tenderness and spiritual passion, crafting songs that serve as rays of light for those in search of personal truth. But Christopher Scott Carter, who goes by Runaway Scotty, has created that light.

A wanderer himself, Runaway Scotty was raised in the quaint city of Conway, Arkansas, but spent much of his adult years living a nomadic lifestyle, traveling the world like a modern day troubadour. Currently residing in Dallas, his journeys have given perspective to his musical inclination, one that’s been with him since early childhood.

“I was 4 when I picked up ukulele and probably 14 when I began playing guitar,” he explains. “I come from a musical family, especially on my Dad’s side. There was always music playing in the house, like country and gospel. I was the black sheep who preferred rock music. I sang a lot of solos in church growing up. I was also classically trained as a singer.”

The heavy contrast of ecclesiastical music blended with rock influence is the nexus of creativity for his forthcoming album Rock My Heart. Recorded in Naples, Italy, he hopes the tracks on the record can provide a pathway for a listener’s own personal transformation.

“It’s a process of owning and honoring one’s darkness in order to create acceptance and ultimately find a true light within,”    he says. “So that it can be shared with others.”
