Singer-Songwriter Jeff Tuohy Shares Genre-Bending Journey Through Life in New LP Hudson Delta

The wait is finally over and nationally acclaimed artist and singer/songwriter Jeff Tuohy is back in the ear drums of both new listeners and his die-hard fans. The story, songwriting and personal journey behind the creation of ‘Hudson Delta’ is nothing short of an epic, as it provides in full the new powers Tuohy wields as a frontman, musician, and as a guru of seemingly any and all musical styles.

Opening with the cathartic ‘Funeral Party,’ Tuohy lays down the tone of Hudson Delta through its dark lyrics, big band instrumentation, and breakdowns that Tuohy has become known for. The lead single “The Devil is in New Orleans” makes its album appearance here and sounds just as fresh as when it was first released. Tuohy’s love for New Orleans and a cry to humanity in the midst of turmoil, the single and accompanying animated music video are pitch-perfect for Hudson Delta. Both ‘The Devil is in New Orleans’  and ‘Murder in a Dancehall’ share overtones of the haunted yet rocking sound Jeff has cultivated over years of investing his soul into his writing. The top-of-the-line instrumentalists accompanying Tuohy have created nothing short of an authentic, Creole-informed sound, especially in the piano section of album closer ‘Click Boom Click’ and the horn sections threading through the LP.

Tuohy’s new side as a country artist comes to the forefront with ‘Drunk Twice Today’  and second single ‘Old Roads,’ which received a nod from country genre staple CMT, where the stunning and heartwarming music video was featured. An instant classic and crowd-pleaser of the album is ‘All my Friends are Getting Married (I’m Just Getting Stoned).’ The song provides a dash of humor while also providing a moment of self-reflection that makes for both an enjoyable single track as well as an overarching anthem for the album as a whole. Other genres are injected into the alternative rock LP including doo-wop (‘Love is a Game’), true rock (‘Lay Your Body Down’, alternative R&B (‘Hear Me Out’), and traditional folk music, specifically the legendary sea shanty (‘Sea of Galilee”). Tuohy is masterful at weaving his way through so many styles by giving each track his all and never veering from being original.

What make Jeff Tuohy and Hudson Delta truly unique is his drive to keep moving forward with his style and taking new directions, even after the success with his debut release ‘Breaking Down the Silence’ and sophomore album “Cocoon.” His unwavering dedication to his vision as an artist is without a doubt the underlying factor that makes him a natural at materializing his ambitions.
