Following their debut single ‘Second Guess’, released back in April, Brooklyn-based shoegaze quintet TARA are back with their latest offering, ‘Wander’.
The second of five singles planned for release, ‘Wander’ builds on the shoegaze dream-pop aesthetic found in the band’s first single; opening with an absorbing array of synths, bass and gliding guitars.
The vocals are hauntingly melancholic in nature, and when combined with the ethereal, hypnotic drum loops and guitar twangs, make for an enchantingly delicate yet simultaneously dense track. Listen to ‘Wander’ below.
The intangible nature of ‘Wander’ remains until its end in that, rather than building towards any kind of climactic finish, the track evaporates into the ether like rain hitting the pavement on a hot summer’s day. Left behind is nothing but a “summer haze” – the perfect metaphor for this cathartic and surreal track.
