Miley Cyrus put her own feminist spin on Christmas classic ‘Santa Baby’ for a performance on The Tonight Show.
Joined by ‘Nothing Breaks Like a Heart’ collaborator, Mark Ronson, and the show’s host, Jimmy Fallon, Miley turned the song’s somewhat dated lyrics into something far more 2018-ready.
Watch the updated version below.
During the performance, Cyrus sang: “Santa baby / I don’t need any fancy jewellery / Not me / I’ve got something else in mind[…] / Don’t want diamonds, cash or stocks / Nothing that comes in a box / No more fluff, I’ve had enough / And I can buy my own damn stuff.”
She continued: “Listen Santa to what I say / a girl’s best friend is…equal pay.”
Also on her list: “Santa baby, I’d love to know my ass won’t get grabbed at work, by some ignorant jerk”. Seems reasonable enough.
