Watch Neil Young power through as plug is pulled during ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’

It looks like Neil Young put his money where his mouth is with the lyric “keep on rockin’ in the free world.”

The iconic musician saw his headline spot at the BottleRock Napa Valley Festival almost come to an early close, as the festival’s strict curfew saw the plug pulled as he performed the iconic track ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’.

But the band kept playing for a full minute and a half more, with the voice of the crowds making up for the lack of mics and stage amps. Check it out below.

As it is surrounded by a residential area, the California festival has a strict 10:00 p.m. curfew.

Young isn’t the first artist to keep rocking out after the plug was pulled at the festival, though: at the first ever curfewed BottleRock fest in 2014, The Cure did so, while the Foo Fighters brought ‘Everlong’ over the cut-off in 2017.
