Migos‘ rapper Offset reunited with his estranged father for the first time in two decades, sharing the heartwarming moment on Instagram.

Offset, real name is Kiari Cephus, has previously shared how his father’s 23-year absence impacted his upbringing.

In an interview with The Breakfast Club, the rapper suggested not having a present father played a part in turning him to a life of criminality: “Growing up it affected me a lot, that’s why I think I was running around doing so much. I didn’t really have no father guidance, without that and then you’ve got the streets– you let the streets guide you. Your momma become the person you hide from, You hide everything.”
In the same candid interview, Offset said that despite that impact, he would still be willing reconcile their relationship, citing his own struggles in the early stages of fatherhood: “I know how it be.
“You can either let the streets take you away or you can kick in with your family. A lot of folks, the streets took them away from their momma, their grandmomma, their everything.
“So, I’ve just been on the other side too. I’ve been a father that was locked up, trippin, not really focused on life goals, not really focusing on taking care of the kids.”
The 27-year-old has four children with four different women, including his current wife, Grammy-award winning artist Cardi B.
His debut solo album, Father of 4, which was released back in February, features cover art which subtly references his then-estranged dad.

Now, the artist has reconciled with his father and shared a clip of their initial meeting to Instagram with a heartwarming caption.

Accompanying the video, which sees the pair embrace, Offset wrote: “Dreams do come true. Haven’t seen my father in 23 years !!!!!! And I still love him. The past is the past and the present is all we have to rely on we not perfect in any shape or form I love you pops !!! No matter what!!!!”
