‘And So the Light Returned’ represents the end of a period of trying to find direction and feeling more hopeful about the future.

Lochlan Shaw is a singer-songwriter and composer from North Yorkshire.

He recently graduated from BIMM having earnt his songwriting diploma and the past few years saw Lochlan gigging at open mic events and busking across the UK.

His songwriting style is described as acoustic-pop with hints of folk and his musical influences include John Mayer, Tracy Chapman and Joni Mitchell

May 2021 saw the release of Lochlan Shaw’s debut EP and he chose the title ‘And So the Light Returned’ and in his own words “the EP represents the end of a period of trying to find my direction, and feeling more hopeful about the future.”

The EP consists of five songs that fit with this theme and ‘Hollywood Clichés’ is the lead track from the EP.

‘Hollywood Clichés’ provides commentary on the false image of love as portrayed in the movies, but it is also a comment on how love in real life is much rawer, much more authentic, and can be so much more beautiful for it.

Lochlan Shaw was invited to record this EP at the Cargo Rooms in London by a promotions company called Hot Vox promotions and whilst at the Cargo Rooms he also filmed a livestream.

The EP has been featured in several Spotify playlists, including Indie Landfill, New Artist Spotlight and Ditto’s Indie Hitlist

These playlists have also featured artists such as The Weeknd, Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller and Fleetwood Mac.
