Music Crowns recently had the chance to sit down with up-and-coming country singer Reed Foley about his new single “Beer Needs Drinkin'” and the sick music video that accompanies the track! Watch the video below and read on to meet the artist.
Your career has spanned many years, going back to when you were just a kid playing hometown shows in Florida. Have you had an “I’ve made it” moment yet?
The short answer is not yet. There have certainly been a lot of ups and downs and I try to live in those moments but, I don’t know if you ever really feel like you’ve made it. If i had to guess what that would be for me, it would be playing the Grand Ole Opry or having your first radio #1. Something really extraordinary that you dream of as a kid.
You describe this single as a ‘working class anthem.’ At the end of a long day, what do you do to get out of your own head, other than wetting a line and cracking open a cold one like you describe in your song?
I like variety in my life so I do a lot of different things. I like to play darts, pool, and video games. I also enjoy going out to dinner with friends or for a walk with my family. I also like that most of these can be accommodated with a cold one!

What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learned so far about the music industry?
Be. Yourself. I can’t stress that enough. It’s so easy to get caught up in the success of others and find yourself wanting to sound like this person or look like that person. I think people see right through that bullshit and they won’t be as drawn to what you’re creating. Authenticity is the only way you’re gonna feel good about yourself and connect with your audience.
What’s coming next for you and what do you want fans to know about your work?
We’re excited to see what Beer Needs Drinkin’ does in the next few weeks and then more new music is on the horizon after the holidays. We’ve been recording since July and we’re already thinking about when to put the next song into the hands of country music fans everywhere.
Lastly, it’s almost Christmas time. You do an annual fundraiser for Toys for Tots. Can you tell us a little bit about why you chose that particular organization and what your philanthropy means to you?
I have a few soft spots in my heart when it comes to charity. Children are one of those. They don’t get to choose their parents, their income, or their house. I started playing a charity show a few years ago and we as a band wanted to do something. What I wasn’t prepared for was for my fans to pitch in and help the way they did. A lot of people don’t know there are guidelines that local chapters have to follow that limit how much money can be spent on an individual toy. That number is pretty low and so there ends up being a group of older kids who don’t get much, if anything for Christmas. So my team and I try to provide those bigger gifts like bicycles, tablets & e-readers. Things that older kids would want and need. It’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever been able to do.
