Tell us about your new EP ‘Sleepless’ in three words, please?
Sleepless is witty, Sleepless is groovy and Sleepless is longing. It’s an introduction to Juicy Lemon Club.
Who are your main influences as a group?
We are inspired by bands like Daft Punk, L’Impératrice, Parcels & Roosevelt. They are groovy and that’s just a lot of fun!
What is the music scene like in Switzerland?
Well, small, like Switzerland, and quite versatile in style and vibe. A lot of artists perform in their native language, so there is a lot of music in Swiss German, German, French and Italian. Sometimes it feels a little bit like we are the odd one out with our indie disco and English lyrics… But that is fine because we love what we do.
Lead single ‘Sincerely’, we love it! What’s this song about?
It’s about a lot of things. It’s about embracing the fact that you’ve been treated in a way that hurt you. It is about finally being able to say it aloud and with that recognizing your self-worth and needs. It’s about realizing that loving someone is not always enough to make it last. It’s about giving someone the choice to either be sincere in their love or to leave. It’s a very intimate and honest song and it’s very relatable in its directness and nakedness.
Favourite song off the EP? Each member, please!
Philippe Pavlu (Bass&Backing Vocals) and Juan Helou (Drums) love 21. Night of May most while Timon Sarbach (Keys&Backing Vocals) and Berenice Courvoisier (Guitar&Vocals) are most into Yours To Claim.
What are your plans for promoting ‘Sleepless’?
Well, we have been working together with Liberty Music for the promotion of one of the singles and now also for the release of the EP. Other than that we promote it on all of our socials and some of the songs also made it into the radio in several countries. Last but not least, we are touring through Switzerland and Germany at the moment.
And finally, what are your plans for the rest of 2024?
We are currently in Berlin for a show and will play a few more shows in Germany in the coming months. Other than that we are planning our summer (festivals etc.) and working on some new things to be released by the end of this year or the beginning of the next.
