Grecian DJ and producer YERO entered summer 2024 at full throttle and the results speak for themselves. Back in June, he released debut single ‘Wonderful Life’ (Kryder’s Guilty Pleasure Remix) featuring Christian Burns, an afro-infused take on a contemporary take on a classic 80s number.
In the following weeks, he made epic booth debuts including Ibiza’s Café Mambo and dance music mecca, Tomorrowland Festival. Two mighty slots amongst a packed summer of gigs which saw YERO support the likes of Aussie party man FISHER.
As YERO gets ready to close out a pivotal summer, he talks us through his top picks of the season straight from the dancefloor.
1.Laurinha | Victor Lou, Malive
This track is one of my favourites as I love the way that Victor Lou and Malive remixed RnB classic ‘Killing Me Softly’ into the groove. Whenever I’ve played this out over the summer it has gone off in the club and caught the crowd off guard. That’s exactly what I look for as a DJ!
2. Pump | Kashovski | Calamar Records
Kashovski is a name with solid momentum and I think he’s going to go far. He has many sick productions but, for me, ‘Pump’ has a perfect compilation of groove and classic hip-hop vocal that just makes you want to dance.
3. Jibaro | David Tort, OKEN | Nervous Records
I’ve been loving the afro-house, amapiano infusion that has been hot on dancefloors this summer. I hope it’s here to stay!
This record immediately captivates with the opening vocal call, then those tribal drums kick in over the house groove and I’m hooked.
4. Opera | Marasi | Madorasinthehouse
Now this is a massive club banger that brings the heat on the most intimate of dancefloors to the full-scale superclubs. The synths, the percussion, the clean-cut production, this track was made with club energy in mind.
5.Jealous | Mochakk | CircoLoco Records
A huge release from last summer that still packs a punch when I play it out now. Jealous has that unbeatable classic house vocal that I love and radiates the kind of soulful energy I aim to bring in my DJ sets. It’s quickly become one of my favourite weapons in my USB.
