The York trio possess the rare gift of a sound that completely engulfs the listener; ‘Soap’ is a tapestry of downtempo pop-noir; featuring moody bass lines, shimmering harp and a sprinkling of light percussion.
Doused in atmosphere and suspense, it’s a slow burning track that shape-shifts into different beasts as the music ebbs and flows. With only the hypnotic vocals to follow, it’s a minute into the track before you realise you’re lost in LUUNA‘s world. It’s a feeling that’s reflected so simply in LUUNA’s accompanying video for ‘Soap’.
The one-shot clip follows a girl on her journey through a forest, as she appears to battle feelings that might threaten to knock her off course. We never see the girl reach her destination and in the end, it’s obvious as to the reason why: she too is trapped in the dreamy world LUUNA have created.
