Rahul Suntah takes to the stage for the Jubilee Show in Bristol

Originally from Mauritius and now based in the UK, Rahul Suntah is an incredible pianist who uses more than just the keys of the piano.

Join him at this concert where he will be playing a selection of his amazing piano covers of popular hits, film scores and his original compositions including Bohemian Rhapsody, Feel Good Inc, Harry Potter, Paradise Island and many more.

Classically trained, Rahul started learning the piano at the age of 8 and pursued his university studies in Audio & Music Technology at the University of the West of England, Bristol and a masters in Film music at the University of Bristol.

Since then he has attracted over 40,000 followers online and garnered over a million total views on YouTube after posting breathtaking piano covers of popular hits and releasing his debut EP ‘Piano Stories’, alongside winning the UWE Bristol Talent Show and being featured on popular platforms such as BBC, ITV, Right This Minute and Pianist Magazine.

In addition to being an aspiring film composer, Rahul is a unique versatile musician and performer known online for his track ‘Paradise Island’, which was among the top tracks of 2021 on BBC Introducing.

10% of profits from this show will be going to the Bristol Children’s Charity.

Rahul Suntah has taken time out of his busy schedule to answer a few of our questions.

1) Is there much difference between the music scene in Mauritius and the UK?

Not much, but the music scene is definitely much bigger here in the UK compared to Mauritius.

2) How did you end up getting involved in the forthcoming Jubilee concert?

I was invited to a special concert in Manchester back in February which is how I met my manager, David. After that we decided to put on a special show for the Jubilee weekend where I would play a selection of my popular YouTube covers, film scores, originals and a couple of British national songs. It is actually my first solo show which is exciting.

3) Who were your musical influences?

Beethoven, Mozart, John Cage, Stevie Wonder, Queen, Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, The Piano Guys and many more.

4) What are your favourite Queen songs?

Bohemian Rhapsody, Another one bites the dust, Love of my life, We are the champions, Don’t stop me now.

5) What’s your life outside of music?

Gym, video games, movies, photography, adventures, travelling

6) If you could collaborate with any film or tv composer who would it be?

Hans Zimmer

7) What’s your favourite genre of music?

Film soundtracks

8) What’s next for you musically?

More concerts and shows, new album in the works, new original music and obviously more covers soon.

9) What are your strengths and weaknesses?

I’m a huge perfectionist, I guess that is both my strength and my weakness.

10) What is your guilty pleasure?

Beethoven’s piano sonatas.
