Straight outta Melbourne comes hip hop group Headlines. Known to shake up the industry with their unique story-telling and thought provoking tunes, the group is only just getting started. Over the years the group cleverly built a body of work which makes Headlines a name to remember. Headlines is made up of rapper/musician Aye One, rapper/producer Dstnce and rapper/vocalist Teepz. We sit down with Aye One to get to know the group more.
How did you guys get together?
It was a sunny Friday afternoon when I decided to do some banking. Long story short a bunch of guys dressed as ex presidents bust in and start shooting. I look at Dstnce (not knowing him) pick him up and toss him into one of the robbers. Dstnce then grabbed the guys gun threw it to me and I took the rest out. Pop pop pop. We figured we worked well together so thats where it began.
What was your first CD?
The first CD I bought was Boom Shae The Room by Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff. I was lucky enough to get Jeff to sign it for me during his tour earlier this year. The first album I bought was TLC, Crazy, Sexy, Cool. I stand by both those all day.
Tell us about you latest release?
Its about how regardless how much we are ignored by the scene, the industry or even our wives and parents we are never going to stop. So get used to it.
What are you working on?
We have a brand new banger that we cant wait to release called “Out of Buisness”. Luckily we laid it down before the new world order initiated the sedation scene but were currently in a holding pattern to shoot a clip for it. Cannot wait.
How have you kept busy?
I’ve spent ‘a lot’ of time watching conspiracy videos on YouTube and making tin foil hats. My origami game is so tight that I can spin out a fedora in only six folds. Boom.
