Interview With Blaq Carrie On Staying Creative

Australian rapper Blaq Carrie is making 2021 her year, after releasing her first single off her upcoming album ‘RUWA’, BC is coming back strong. We sit down with the artist to get to know her a little more.

What inspires your music?

Am inspired by everything in life. A good song or album, cinema, art and nature.

How did you get into music?

Since I could remember it’s always been part of me. I had a few older cousins who used to rap. As a kid I just used to imitate them until i discovered the Fugues. Then all I ever wanted to be was be like Lauryn Hill.

What have you got coming up for you next?

I will be releasing my first album ‘RUWA’ in March. Which am super excited about. Am really proud of it.

Tell us about your recent release?

I just released ‘Musashi Freestyle’ which is the first single off my upcoming album. The track was inspired by hip hop cypher’s such as BET awards cyphers, XXL and Sway cyphers. I rap over two different beats that blend well together like a Yin and Yang.

What can we expect from you in the coming years?

Definitely more albums and one day getting cast for a Marvel feature film or a J.J Abrams film or television series.

How does it feel to release music during these times?

For me personally it just feels great to share new music. It just sucks not to know when I will perform live again. Other than that I won’t allow these current times to affect my creativity.
