Nashville-based singer-songwriter Benjamin Salt just released a new track titled ‘Wondering’. The song follows Salt’s own journey back to God from the depths of depression, addiction and the social isolation brought on by the pandemic. For the occasion, the artist answered a few questions for Music Crowns.
Hi Benjamin, thanks for your time! What made you want to become a musician making Christian pop?
I’ve been singing and writing songs my entire life, but I recently wanted to use my gifts to make music about God! I hope my music can inspire other people and help shine God’s love.
Describe your favorite and least favorite part about being a musician
My favorite part is creating music and performing it. I love both so much. My least favorite part is the self doubt that comes with being an artist.
Can you tell us about your creative process when you write new music?
Each song is different. Sometimes I start with the melody, or a lyric, or a hook, or just a piano line. Every song is unique. When I’m in the studio, I start to see the music video and visuals come to life in my head.
What’s the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?
Trust your gut and be true to yourself.
What message do you want your fans to take from your music?
That God created them and loves them.
What can we expect from you in the next few months?
I’m working on my EP which will be out next year!
