“Superstar To Be” – Interview with a young Mexican pop singer Victor Alfonso

I had a pleasure to chat with a young Mexican pop singer Victor Alfonso. I found his music online and thought it’s great latin-pop, and Victor himself looks and sings like a pop star in the making. W chatted about copying with fans, touring South America, recording new music and being on the way to become a superstar.

Peter Balkus: I’ve found your music on Tradiio. How it happened that you put your music out there?

Victor Alfonso: Thanks. I’m searching for any opportunities on my career, so the other day I read about Tradiio. I think that is an amazing platform to make my music and my fanbase growing. I think that was an excellent decision, because now I have my first interview, thanks to Tradiio and you.

PB: But there wouldn’t be this interview without your song which stucked in my head. Song “Nunca Mas”. I fell in love with this song, it’s very catchy, sweet, very relaxing, holiday-friendly! Tell me please more about this song.

VA: Thank you. Nunca Más is a song that I wrote myself, the music is by Arturo Guillen, a Mexican Producer. It is a song about a relationship that didn’t work and now when that person is gone, life has become quiet, sweet, colorful, free of anger and with hopes that that person will never return. Nunca mas – means “never again” in Spanish.

PB: I can hear in that song a positive vibrations, song seems to be very happy and you look happy in the video. Are you in general happy person?

VA: Yes I am a happy person, or I maybe try to be happy (laughs). I think that life is too short to be sad and I think that we can’t be angry all the time. We only have one life and we have to enjoy it.

PB: Your music is quite popular on Internet, but how long it will take you to become a superstar?

VA: I’m in music since childhood, but professionally I started in 2013. It is an endurance career that requires patience, perseverance and discipline. It costed me to sacrifice time with my family and friends. And thank you that you consider me a superstar, I think that I am still on my way to be a superstar. But yeah, I’d like to be globally recognized because of my music.

va

PB: You have got superstar qualities and you look like superstar. So good luck. If you become a superstar, what you would like to change in your life? What are your dreams?

VA: I’ll try not to change anything in terms of my values and simplicity. I do my best to make true my dream of spreading my music all over the world with support from my fans and people like you.

PB: Good luck with this, you are on your way mate. Please tell me about your discography. When we can expect more new music from you?

VA: Thanks. I actually have an album recorded that went on sale only in Mexico, but now I am working on my second album that have songs as Nunca Más (Never Again), Adrenalina (Adrenalin) and Boleto Extra (Extra Ticket), this and the new songs are going to go to all the world. I will have songs written by myself in Spanish, and I also will start covering songs of American artists, giving me little by little recognition in USA and UK.

PB: Nice. Any chance songs “Nunca Mas” and other songs will be recorded in English versions?

VA: Oh! That is an idea that I’d really like to come true. It’s like Shakira, she has her albums in Spanish and English. My second album is gonna contain few songs in Spanish and other songs in English.

PB: Yeah that would be great. It’s like Jennifer Lopez albums with English songs and few songs in Spanish. Or Pitbull does it too. By the way, tell me about music you like to listen. Is Mexican music influences you? Or more American and English?

VA: Oh that’s a difficult question, I have Mexicans influences like Josè Josè, Yuri, Mijares, Reik, Paty Cantú, but I really have a lot of American influences like Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Madonna, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, UK influences like Little Mix, and another nationalities like Shakira, Ricky Martin. I think that a complete artist doesn’t have only one influence, it’s part of that career, yo have to listen a little of everything, all different genres of music, to have a very clear view of what it’s going on in the industry right now.

PB: Being a superstar means you have to deal with fans… In your case mostly girls. Are you ready for that?

VA: Yes. I actually have a lot of fans clubs right here in Mexico, and I travel to all the Mexican republic to sing for my fans and take a lot of photos, give autographs, and know all that girls and boys that follows my music. I really love to meet people all around the world. I just travelled to Lima, Perú. Like 15 hours flight, just to give a show, and that was an incredible experience. They are amazing, they are so nice and sweet to me, only because they like my music, my lyrics. I even doesn’t have words to describe this feeling.
