MC Sessions | John Buckley

Singer-songwriter John Buckley makes delicate folk-pop tracks that are peppered with soulful R&B and catchy hooks; reminiscent of the peaceful vibe and ethereal beauty of the small Cornwall town that he calls home.

Since the tender age of fifteen, Buckley had been honing his skills as a musician and performer, playing gigs at various open mic nights as well as performing up and down the harbour. On a whim, he made a decision that would affect the course of his career forever and began to upload heartfelt covers to YouTube. These videos featured Buckley performing a range of quality tracks from Paolo Nutini‘s ‘Last Request’ to Foster The People‘s ‘Pumped Up Kicks’. With his graceful, dainty guitar licks and warm, honey-coated vocals, he rightly gathered several thousand views in its first week alone. Receiving overwhelming support from both family and fans, he plucked up the courage to upload some originals and unsurprisingly was picked up by BBC Introducing and even given a spin on Huw Stephens‘ Radio 1 show.

Since then, Buckley has shown no signs of slowing, releasing killer track after killer track. His recent releases, such as tender love song ‘Oh My My’ and soulful summer jam ‘Hard To Love’, are as heartfelt and blissful as his euphoric covers. It is clear that this Cornwall native is going to be pouring sweet tunes in our ears for years to come.
