The Manchester rising star Ace Cxbain is an exciting voice in contemporary R&B. Cues from the new scene, rumba, and nineties sounds have lifted Ace to stages alongside Fetty Wap and Yxng Bane, and a performance with Studio 88.
His latest track is the lucid and bouncy ‘Rest Bae’. The warmth of this track is evident from the first second, but Ace continues to make it more relaxing and sleek with his vocal performance and romanticised lyricism. The percussion moves subtly, the vocal sample underlies lustful harmonies, and the keys are deep and flowing. A slice of pure seduction.
Ace comments, “This song was inspired by a club night in which I opened up for UK charting artist, Yxng bane, at Avan Lounge in Manchester. Coming off the stage I was instantly captivated by a girl wearing a gold dress. She smiled at me, leading me to go talk to her. The conversation had a lot of depth despite the busy surroundings of the Lounge and I was extremely attracted to her. She was very precise with her words and held amazing eye contact. I left instantly knowing I’d write a song about the experience”
