At just 12 years old, ADUDA began to write songs as a way to combine her love for writing and singing. Growing up in Brazil, ADUDA spoke Portuguese at home, and found that writing, recording and listening to music the easiest way to learn the English language. Soon after she started playing the guitar, piano and ukulele, using these as essential tools within her songwriting.
Her latest single “Shortcuts” is sure to make an impression. Merging vulnerability with warm instrumentation, the track is sure to pick you up and leave you wanting more. As always, ADUDA’s vocals shine through the mix, working hand in glove with well-penned lyrics.
Speaking about the single, she says: “I had the words “shortcuts” stuck in my head for weeks and knew I had to write a song about it. I came up with the chorus first, then Gary helped with the lyrics of the first verse while I was coming up with the melodies. After the first part was done, I wrote the rest based on what we already had at the time. The hardest part was the bridge at the ending, I had a few rhymes but wasn’t sure what to do, so Gary came up with the idea of a “duda rap”, so I could sing a bunch of verses in a short amount of time, and Henrique came up with the final melody of the song, so I could end it with my lyrics.”
ADUDA will do everything she can to reach the top and inspire those around her. Her drive and determination is infectious, and we cannot wait to see where she’ll take this.
