After leaking ‘Haunted’ on Tiktok and amassing over 19.5 million views, Eiza Murphy is back with her next single.
Written and produced by Eiza, ‘Haunted’ is about loving someone who is in love with someone else.
Over the last few months, Eiza Murphy has been finalizing her debut EP and writing songs for other artists – including Kenzie Ziegler’s latest single ‘100 Degrees’.
She is now ready to release again, with her debut EP lined up for 2023.
After having music featured in Netflix’s Riverdale, Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’, charting at #1 on iTunes Ireland twice and featuring on radio stations such as BBC Introducing and RTE2FM as the ‘Track of The Week’, Eiza is ready to start 2023 off on a high note.
In ‘Haunted’, Eiza Murphy uses a house as a metaphor for a relationship. She says “this house is haunted”, as if her partner is plagued by the memory of their last love.
You can hear Eiza’s Irish storytelling roots in her lyrics, and her distinct artistry shines through her melodies and production.
The track mesmerizes with dreamy vocals and amazing harmonies from Eiza Murphy, whilst also delivering a melody that switches back and forth from gentle to haunting before introducing catchy beats into the arrangement.
‘Haunted’ is the first song that Eiza produced herself.
Eiza explains that she “wrote it about someone who doesn’t have the emotional capacity to love someone else because of a past relationship, but I wrote it from the opposite perspective of what I’ve actually experienced.
At the time, I really didn’t want to be in a relationship with anyone – not because I was still in love with an ex, but because I just didn’t want to be in a relationship again for a while.
So, I wrote this song from the perspective of someone coming into my life that I had no room for (plus some added fiction).”
