On the rise: Emerging UK rapper Akheim Allen releases music video for latest single ‘SIR’

Just call him SIR

North London rapper and producer Akheim Allen has released the music video for his latest single ‘SIR’.

The track marks the first of 2019 for Allen, and the third of his career. Previous singles ‘Wavs Dnt Die’ and ‘Memo’ both gained support from the likes of BBC 1Xtra and Highsnobiety, amongst others.

For ‘SIR’, the burgeoning rapper looked to former Stormzy and Octavian collaborator, O12 to produce. The finished product is a mix of dark synths and 808s that marriage perfectly with emotive lyricism and an equal parts solid flow and delivery from Allen.

On the song’s soundscape and lyrical inspiration, he said: “When O12 sent me the beat, I thought it was the perfect way to open up about this important stage in my life and share my growing pains with listeners.

The visuals for ‘SIR’ don’t disappoint, either. Shot and directed by new agency B2 Creative, the video charts Allen’s ascension to the ultimate level of ‘SIR’, his burgeoning wealth and status highlighted by a clever use of prop and location shots.

On his approach to creating tunes, Allen said: “I like to write real and honest music in the hopes of connecting with people that have been through similar situations. I wanted to show my supporters where I’m at and where I aim to go.”

The first of two planned tracks before a debut EP next year, ‘SIR’ is available to stream and download now. The next single from Allen will drop before the year is out, so stay tuned.
