Throughout the ever-shifting landscapes of the UK music scene, genres and scenes are constantly reinventing, blurring the lines between what was once sonically separated and finding innovations within that.
A Bristol-based artist who has captured this essence is AUGUST, delivering the alternative R&B sound fuelled by lush yet intensifying drum breaks. With an EP on the horizon, headline gigs popping up, and tastemakers sharing their praises, AUGUST is at a pivotal moment, stepping into a new era.
Cue new single ‘Wait For Me’, a collaboration with UK dance veteran Outrage. The ornate but moody track builds on its power gradually, layering silky, sultry vocals over break foundations and wobbling bass lines.
The pulsing undertones are driven by angelic top lines. AUGUST is in command, floating, folding and refracting through the mix, bold in moments before reverting to barely above a whisper. Precision is taken to each sonic layer, and the glassy synths soften the track’s edges.
August shares that the track is about having “the power and control over your own destiny. The irony is that this track was actually written a little while ago, and is pretty apt right now as I transition into a new phase of my life, how I work, new ways and being a lot more selective.”
A blend between movement and seated introspection, keep an eye on this artist.
