American-born producer and activist artist B.A.R.O.N.S. is carving a reputation as a fierce creative force for an alternative industrial sound. Fusing breakbeats, metal riffs and a sardonic lyrical bite, it’s a sonic experience built for the restless. Driving more energy into his debut album, Le Creme De La Meme, the artist showcases the relentless ‘Polybius’.
A caustic, high-voltage slice, ‘Polybius’ takes the name from an infamous urban legend arcade game, supposedly driving addiction to the point of psychological damage for all who played it.
The track is a similarly disorienting hit, breakneck rhythms, roaring synths and machine-like cacophony refusing to be switched off. Gnarled guitar textures and brutal backbeats are cut by stark, furious, but hypnotic vocals.
Designed to overwhelm, but controlled by the hands of its creator, the chaos becomes catharsis, with serrated production and sneering edge.
