Irish post-punk risers Basht. have delivered a thunderous six-track with their new EP Bitter & Twisted, released via Lab Records. The band is complete and commanding, bringing raw emotional depth and gripping dynamism.
The band have already carved a cult-like following thanks to explosive gigs across their home country and the UK, supporting the likes of Wunderhorse and Been Stellar, a testament to their exponential growth.
The project harnesses the visceral energy you’d expect from the stage and creates it in the studio. Spoken word verses, jagged guitars and an urgency in every bar cross their biting introspective as they span darkness and melody.
They explain, “Bitter and Twisted is a personal project that drags a lot of uncomfortable emotions into the light. I wanted to explore the messier side of being human, the pain we cause, the pain we carry, and how those two often get tangled. These songs are a reflection of my own struggles with identity, control, love, and the damage we sometimes mistake for connection.
This EP isn’t easy listening but it wasn’t meant to be. It’s a snapshot of emotional extremes, of the parts of ourselves we don’t usually say out loud. Bitter and Twisted is my way of confronting all of that loudly, honestly, and without looking away.”
Championed by music press tastemakers, their momentum throws them into a UK and European tour this month, before hitting the festival circuit across the summer. True excitement surrounds a band with serious potential, this is one to get behind.
