Beldon Haigh releases uplifting tribute song to saving BBC Introducing in ‘Need My Local Radio’

Beldon Haigh took it upon himself to try and make a difference when it was announced that the BBC will be making cuts to BBC Introducing stations nationwide. He’s channeled this frustrated and pent up energy into an uplifting and inspirational offering full of catchy riffs and relatable lyrics that get right to the point.

Building up quite a strong social following over the years, Beldon Haigh spin this serious and threatening narrative into a song that can bring hope to others that people in government and the industry will see this protest song and make change. The projected climate will restrict a lot of opportunities to unsigned and emerging artists from areas up and down the country, and BBC Introducing has been a pivotal and life changing organisation for many artists.

‘Need My Local Radio’ is a calling to the higher to make note and listen, and with the whole campaign and platform surrounding it, we sincerely hope it does.

Beldon says It saddens me deeply when I see more and more decisions and creative work and content and jobs being sucked back to a metropolis, migrating into the hands of fewer people. Need My Local Radio speaks to that. It speaks to a trend of moving power, creative decisions and voices away from regions, communities and local places and into the metropolis, run by small powerful groups. These small powerful groups end up with tremendous control and influence, but they have less connection and less investment with and in local communities. They’ve often never lived in a small town or smaller city, so how can they say they understand them and make decisions on their behalf. It doesn’t just happen on the radio. I’m sure that many people in all sorts of jobs and industries have witnessed something similar.”
