His first new music since 2021’s ‘Let It All Go’, ‘Goodbye’ sees Benji effortlessly return to form with a slick, soothing ballad which evokes the best of 90s R&B. Delving into the bittersweet experience of bidding farewell to a fading relationship, with his soulful vocals and a poignant piano-led arrangement, Benji showcases his artistry and emotional depth.
Inspired by personal experiences, ‘Goodbye’ explores the complexities of acknowledging the decline of a once vibrant connection. Benji’s introspective lyrics provide a window into the conflicting emotions that arise when one realises that the best course of action is to part ways. Reflecting on the song’s meaning, Benji says, “Goodbye is about having to say goodbye to a past relationship. When in the relationship you notice things aren’t the same and feelings have been fading over time, you start to reminisce about the situation and start to think if you or the other person could’ve done more to help the relationship. In the end, the easiest decision was to say goodbye.”
Following the success of his debut single, ‘Deja Vu’, and follow-up ‘Yesterday’s Love,’ which drew inspiration from an unreleased demo by his sister VV Brown, Benji Brown has been garnering attention from both critics and fans alike.
